Distinguished Schools
Rice Ranch is located in the highly ranked Orcutt School District. All eight Orcutt elementary and junior high schools have been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Schools Award, by the State of California. The program identifies and honors many of the State's exemplary and inspiring public schools. Although participation is voluntary, the award is highly sought after by schools in all regions of the state.
Approximately only five percent of California's public schools are selected each year, and no fewer than 40 counties are typically represented. The criteria focus on test scores, absentee rates and other aspects of the school’s educational program. The duration of the distinguished school honor is four years.
